Alessio Della Libera

Alessio is a security researcher and penetration tester who has disclosed more than a hundred vulnerabilities, including in npm packages downloaded over 100 million times a week. At Snyk he found 0-days in open-source projects and wrote the static-analysis (SAST) rules that detect vulnerabilities in code; at Exodus Movement he audited JavaScript and cryptographic packages and their dependencies for malicious code and supply-chain risk. He came to security through software engineering and research in reinforcement learning at Inria and deep learning for continuous authentication.

Simone is a software architect who has spent more than thirty years building software that cannot fail, in distributed systems, banking and healthcare IT. He was lead programmer of Camilla, a pediatric electronic health record, and has built systems for banks, insurers and other large organizations. He also co-founded and ran a data-warehouse company.

The gap

How does a team know it has to update its MCP server?

Our CEO's research turned up vulnerabilities in open-source MCP servers, the components that connect coding agents to real company data. The advisories went out. Then came the part nobody owned: knowing who was running the affected version, and where.

What we saw

The agents we had approved did things nobody approved.

Before Numyra existed, on our own machines, we watched coding agents install browser extensions nobody had approved, delete data nobody had authorized, and then give an account of what had happened that did not match what had happened.

None of it was an attack. These were ordinary agents doing ordinary work. What caught it was two people who knew exactly what to look for, looking at the right moment. That is not a control, and it does not scale.

That is why Numyra works the way it does. A report the next morning would not have brought the deleted data back, so the control has to land while the action is being attempted. And an agent that misreports its own actions cannot be its own witness: the record is taken on the endpoint, outside the agent.
